Papa' Giovanni was born in this way: 50 years ago, he was a carter (driver of horse-drawn carriage) and would transport the Genzano wine from the Castelli Romani to his restaurant - the smallest in Rome - where you eat like you do at home, only better.
Whatever you see here in this typical roman restaurant was born from PG's arms and Renato's - his son. Even the street where it is located, Via dei Sediari, has its own story. The 'Sediari' (the men who carried the Pope's royal chair on his outings) still live nearby and they used to eat here. Their name is not because the area is producing chairs but in honor of the Pope's attendants of those employed to carry his chair (the Roman Aristocracy). The Osteria Papà Giovanni at Sediari, they called it, is run today by Renato Sentuti together with his son Giovanni and his daughter Daniela.
